Cyber Security 101 with Alison Stone

 

This workshop will provide an introduction into why charities are at risk from cyber crime and what simple actions they can undertake to improve their resilience.  

 

This workshop is aimed at anyone who is working in the third sector and is looking to protect themselves online.

 

What you will take away from this workshop:

 

  • A greater awareness of how the threat of cyber attacks impacts the third sector.  
  • Simple, cost effective measures to take to improve the organisation's cyber resilience. 
  • Where to get more information from trusted sources.

This session is open to any charity sector employees and volunteers across the UK. Where spaces are limited priority will be given to grant holders of The William Grant Foundation, The Robertson Trust, Inspiring Scotland, The National Lottery Community Fund and The RS MacDonald Charitable Trust.

About the trainer

 

Alison Stone is the Third Sector Cyber Resilience Co-ordinator, based at the Scottish Business Resilience Centre. Her role focusses on developing cyber resilience in the third sector as part of the Scottish Government Third Sector Cyber Resilience Action Plan.  She works with a range of third sector organisations to educate and share good practice with the aim of improving the security of each organisation. Prior to her move to SBRC in May, Alison held the position of Cyber Resilience Co-ordinator for the sector, based in SCVO.  She brings an extensive experience in business continuity and data security/protection gained when she was a consultant in both third and private sectors.
