I started my working life in the third sector working on digital comms. I'm currently a lecturer in computer science, teaching and researching on ethical and responsible AI, with a special interest in justice-oriented approaches to technology. I have also worked as an arts and technology workshop facilitator.
I would like to be a digital trustee or specialist volunteer to contribute my skills in data analysis, participatory design and machine learning and emergent technologies to contribute to a more equitable society and support positive social change.
Areas I am interested:
- data collection, analysis and communication for social justice, campaigning, etc
- data engagement strategies, e.g. digital storytelling
- data governance, ethical and responsible approaches to AI
- understanding how emergent technologies could be usefully applied in third sector organisations and understanding barriers / challenges to adoption
- exploring how data-driven approaches can to be used to address social and health inequalities
- developing responsible, ethical, people-centred frameworks for integrating emergent technologies
- understanding and mitigating digital harms, bias and exclusion caused by technology
- participatory approaches for design, development and evaluation of technologies
- key areas: inclusion, environmental action, young people, digital & data literacy and the arts. Some previous projects: https://shaunaconcannon.co.uk/projects/
