For over a decade, Vital Xposure has made disabled-led, radical, political performance championing hidden stories and marginalised voices. From our base in London, we make national-touring, accessible work and position ourselves at the forefront of research and learning around disabled performance.
We are committed to a future where marginalised people are recognised, celebrated and empowered as leaders, audiences, participants and artists. Through our work we examine and champion the value of disabled perspectives in our sector.
Vital Xposure theatre productions blend cutting-edge performance with powerful storytelling rarely seen on stage. Recent work includes the world premiere of …blackbird hour in early 2025 (Daring and dizzying – *** The Guardian, Gorgeous richness to the dialogue, *** The Stage) that a four-week run in London before touring across England; and Quiet Rebels, that toured across nine regions to sold-out audiences (Powerfully innovative and fiercely political – The Socialist Worker) and was recognised for its innovative integration of creative access in the dramaturgy and presentation (Arts Council England Digital Culture Awards 2023).
Our pioneering VX Labs research programme explores innovation in access and recontextualises the disabled experience. Informed by a national consultation, VX Labs are delivered in collaboration with regional venues and academic partner Central School of Speech and Drama .
Wellspring, Vital Xposure’s talent development initiative showcased the next generation of disabled theatre-makers. From 2022-24, we were proud to support 16 disabled playwrights in partnership with Hampstead Theatre, Bush Theatre, Soho Theatre, Paines Plough and Theatre503.
We are a small, dynamic team of four part-time staff: Artistic Director, Executive Director, General Manager, and Productions Assistant, and we work an array of creative freelancers to develop and deliver our work.

Level of Board commitment required:
Quarterly meetings (in-person, online, hybrid). One Away Day per year. Other consultation or additional meetings may be scheduled.
Induction period:
Yes. Including a pack with information about the company, meetings with senior staff and observing a Board meeting prior to formal appointment.
