Skylarks Charity is seeking an individual with expertise in Digital Skills to join our board of trustees and support our mission.
About Skylarks Charity:
Skylarks Charity is a local award-winning organisation dedicated to supporting children with additional needs and their families. Recognised for our outstanding contributions, we have received prestigious awards such as the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2018, The National Diversity Award for Community Organisations 2020, Finalist for Children and Young People Award 2022, and winners of The Best Children's Disability Charity at the Non-Profit Organisation Award 2023.
The charity is located in Richmond Upon Thames. With over 5000 registered children accessing our services and a growing community, Skylarks is expanding its reach. We have recently secured a second site and are poised to open in 2024, furthering our mission to provide vital support to children with additional needs and their families.
About the Role:
As a trustee, you will play a crucial role in guiding Skylarks Charity towards achieving its strategic objectives. Your expertise in Digital Skills will be instrumental in supporting the Managing Director and the team of staff to ensure that digital programme delivery remains core to our mission.
Skylarks delivers around 20% of all its services online and understands the need to improve its digital services. The charity has committed to overhauling its website and CRM with a completely new build, and utilising AI to improve the usability for our families.
Board meetings occur approximately five times a year and are conducted through both online and in-person formats. Trustees are assigned to participate in at least one committee, ensuring pertinent discussions on matters concerning the operations and governance of the charity. Additionally, committee meetings are convened between board meetings as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the effective governance and management of Skylarks Charity.
Collaborate with fellow trustees and senior management to develop and implement organisational strategies, policies, and initiatives.
Utilise your expertise in Digital Skills to support the growth and development of Skylarks Charity.
Act as an ambassador for Skylarks, promoting our mission and values within the community and beyond.
Attend trustee meetings, contribute actively to discussions, and participate in sub-committees as required.
Uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of governance and decision-making.

About this vacancy
Level of Board commitment required:
Five board meetings a year (including AGM) with short committee meetings intervening between boards.
