Churches Action for the Homeless
CATH have been delivering services in Perth and Kinross for over 30 years. Although known locally as a homeless charity our work encompasses far more. Increasingly we are involved in helping people experiencing poverty. However, CATH is not just about alleviating the symptoms of homelessness and poor housing. We seek to address the root causes and have two significant developments in planning at this time. In addition we are in the process of commissioning research into homelessness in rural areas of Perth and Kinross. This is important not only to inform our own development of services but to influence the planning and development process of other agencies.
We are looking for someone with a strong financial background to help support the organisation through the next stage of its development as we bring these new concepts into reality.
CATH has aspirations to be more digitally aware and have a higher digital profile. We are in the process of redeveloping our website and have had several attempts to improve our use of social media as resources have allowed but have not been able to consistently apply ourselves to this cause. However, new trustees are now helping us take this forward.
CATH turns over in excess of £1million. We employ nearly 40 members of staff and have around 30 volunteers active within the organisation. Most of our income is from SLAs and contracts with the Local Authority so there is no surplus in them. However, they allow us to do good work in communities across Perth and Kinross. We have six services funded in this way covering everything from rough sleeping to supporting people in their own homes including providing a community hub. We also operate a new independently funded test of change which seeks to help people make positive change in their lives using the concept of Growth Mindset.
In addition we have a charity shop which generates additional income for us as well as carrying out good work in its own right and CATH is keen to progress the development of social enterprise.
